‘Photography is not a job; it is a way of life’. Whilst many photographers can agree with the sentiment of the great Henri Cartier-Bresson, in the pursuit of our craft we each express a unique manifestation of that ‘way of life’. A passion, a living, a joy, a challenge, to me photography is all these things and more. It is landscape, architecture, interiors and portraits, it is colour, black & white, film and digital and it is brochures, books, magazines and exhibitions.
One day I am drawn to the shores of a remote highland loch, the next my tripod is at the door of a Regency town house or perhaps in the garden of a country cottage for sale. From exquisite trees in the Trossachs to extravagant mansions in the Borders, from cork harvesting in Spain to salmon harvesting in Shetland, from musical directors to company directors, my commissions for clients are as varied as my subjects for the camera.
In my 20 years working as a successful professional, with a base in Scotland since 1991, I have resisted pigeon-holing. Instead, I am proud to have achieved a distinctive vision which is consistently defined by quality. Commissioned as photographer on more than a dozen books (including as both author and photographer on six), my architectural and landscape work is widely known. Within the art photography market, my prints are sold both during solo exhibitions as well as through a London agent.
Having said quite enough, I should let my photographs do the talking. I hope you enjoy them.
